SUMMARY:The 1st Annual Food Backpacks 4 Kids Charity Golf Tournament
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a day of golf and philanthropy as we tee off to support an incredible cause: Food Backpacks 4 Kids and Foodbank. Our annual charity golf tournament brings together passionate individuals and businesses committed to making a difference in the lives of children and families in need. With your support\, we can provide essential resources and nourishment to those who need it most. \nAbout the Cause \nFood Backpacks 4 Kids is a local 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to meeting the nutritional needs of hungry children and families\, especially during times when other resources are not available. Their mission is to be a stable source of healthy foods for those who need it most\, envisioning a community where every child is well-fed and can achieve their full potential\, and where no family is food insecure. \nFood Backpacks: Every week\, students take home food backpacks filled with items to support their nutritional needs for the weekend. These packs contain a variety of items for breakfast\, dinner\, and snacks\, and currently\, 160 food backpacks are filled each week.\nFamily Pantry: Open to anyone in need of food\, the Family Pantry invites families each week to choose from a variety of non-perishables\, produce\, dairy\, and proteins. Over 300 families shop at the Family Pantry each month. \nCare Cupboards: These are food pantries within schools\, allowing students to discreetly access food to meet their nutritional needs at school or home. In 2023\, 9\,000 pounds of food were distributed through Care Cupboards. \nGrocery Delivery: A team of volunteers delivers food to Gig Harbor and Key Peninsula families facing transportation challenges. Fifty families receive a weekly delivery containing a variety of non-perishables\, produce\, dairy\, and proteins. \nSummer Lunch: Nutritious sack lunches are provided at no cost to children of all ages twice a week for eight weeks during the summer\, addressing the limited access to food during this time. The program is expanding in 2024 and is on track to provide over 6\,000 lunches.
