DESCRIPTION:Join Harbor WildWatch for a fun and educational public beach walk program on the stunning shorelines of the Salish Sea. Our knowledgeable and friendly biologists and volunteer naturalists will guide you through a hands-on exploration of the intertidal zone\, where you will discover the incredible diversity of marine life that calls our local waters home.\nDuring the program\, you’ll learn good beach etiquette and get the chance to touch and examine creatures such as sea stars\, crabs\, and sea anemones\, while learning about their unique adaptations and behaviors. You’ll also hear about the challenges facing our ocean ecosystems\, and what you can do to help protect them.\nThis beach walk program is suitable for all ages and skill levels\, and is perfect for families\, school groups\, or anyone with an interest in the natural world. Whether you’re a seasoned beachcomber or a first-time visitor\, Harbor WildWatch’s beach walk program is sure to leave you with a newfound appreciation for the beauty and complexity of our local marine environment.\nOur programs run in all weather\, so please dress appropriately. We recommend closed-toe shoes for safety – rain boots\, water shoes\, or an old pair of sneakers you don’t mind getting a little wet and muddy work great. Bring a water bottle\, sunscreen\, layers\, and a snack if you think you will need it. Each beach walk will last approximately 60-90 minutes but you are welcome to peel off at any time before the beach walk concludes. Harbor WildWatch programs are always free\, but a suggested donation of $2 per person or $5 family is appreciated.\nPenrose Point State Park:\nDiscover Pass Required: $30 per year or $10 per day\, available online at https://discoverpass.wa.gov/ or at pay stations at the park.\nGetting to the Beach: Once you pass the first gate into the park\, you will take a right at the “T” in the road. This will lead you to the general parking area (don’t forget to display your Discover Pass). We will meet on the lawn near the restroom at the scheduled start time. Look for Harbor WildWatch staff and volunteers wearing blue. If you arrive late\, find us on the beach!\nTerrain: There is a sloped sandy path or a short step down the eroding bank to the beach. This is a low sloping beach with cobble\, gravel\, sand\, mud\, and occasional boulders. There is a compact sandy stretch exposed at low tide that leads to an area of hard clay. Do not park along the road or on private property. Meet on the lawn\, just inside the lower gate at the scheduled start time. Look for Harbor WildWatch staff and volunteers wearing blue. If you arrive late\, find us on the beach!\nTerrain: There is a steep paved hill down to the beach and then various beach access points that include an eroding path\, uneven concrete slabs\, or a sloped sandy path. This beach is primarily sand flats\, cobble\, and gravel with occasional boulders. There is some mud to the right of the beach that we will avoid. DESCRIPTION:The 3rd Annual Kitsap Farm Tour is happening on August 10\, 2025! \nThis exciting event is an initiative of the Kitsap Agritourism Coalition (KAC)—a collaborative network of local farms working together to support one another and to educate the public about the vital role of agriculture in our community. KAC promotes agritourism by creating fun\, hands-on farm experiences that connect people with the land\, food\, and farmers of Kitsap County. \nAt Olalla Vineyard and Winery we will be offering an opportunity to  taste our famous “Golubok” wine from grapes grown right in our vineyard.  There will also be a collection of vintage and newer farm tractors (some are kid-friendly – please ask).  There will also be a Kid’s Coloring Activity and self-guided tours of the vineyard. \nThe tour is proudly supported by WSU Kitsap Extension and sponsored by Visit Kitsap Peninsula and the Kitsap Community and Agricultural Alliance. DESCRIPTION:Two Waters Arts Alliance is in the process of planning the 10th Annual Art Walk in Key Center. This event features booths for our local KP artists to display their work; jewelry designers offering one-of-a-kind pieces; and quality crafts from skilled artisans. You can walk through the different venues and browse\, and maybe find something special to take home. \nThere will also be several non-profits providing information and answers to your questions. For the kids\, there will be opportunities to make an art piece to take home\, and there will also be a face painter! \nOur local KP musicians will perform at 3 different venues. The Capitol Bar will feature 3 different sets of musicians and provide draft beers\, ciders and wine. The Sunnycrest Bar will feature several different musicians\, and provide beer and wine. The Corral will feature the South Sound Strummer and Dr. Roes’ Down Home Band. \nGNOSH will be serving sandwiches along with other offerings. The Ice Cream truck will be available for bars and cones. IGA will have a wine and beer tasting inside the store. \nWe encourage you to Come and Enjoy the afternoon with us in Key Center! \nAlso\, If you would be interested in helping with this event\, please contact Jodi at: gmalittlefield@gmail.com.
